HYDERABAD: An image of a couple carrying a baby on a bike with a medical oxygen tank attached to it, is viral on social media. Netizens claim that this image is from Myanmar.


FACT CHECK:

The claim is false.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found the same image on the website of Good Time from July 2019. The website states that this incident took place in Thailand and that the baby was born with lung disease and suffered from asthma when he was six months old.

The headline suggests that the couple would travel 75 miles every two days to replace their son's oxygen tank for his survival.

Another report by a Thailand newspaper 'Thairath' on July 10, 2019, said parents rode a motorcycle with an oxygen tank and carried a baby that suffered from respiratory problems. It was also reported by 'TNews'. It said this incident took place in Chiang Rai province. Chiang Rai is Thailand's northernmost province.

The image is from Thailand, not Myanmar. It is not related to Myanmar battling oxygen shortage as it is from July 2019.
