Fact Check: Beware! CBSE has still not announced examination dates for class X, XII

A message is widely being shared on WhatsApp claiming that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the examination for classes 10th and 12th will be held from May 4, 2022.

Hyderabad: A message is widely being shared on WhatsApp claiming that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the examination for classes 10th and 12th will be held from May 4, 2022.

The viral message said schools will be allowed to conduct Practical/ Project/ Internal Assessment of Class 12 from March 1, 2022. Class 10 and 12 exam date sheet will be issued soon. CBSE will also inform all the stakeholders about the information related to examinations from time to time.


Fact Check

The claim is False.

NewsMeter began its investigation by performing a keyword search which led us to a few tweets by users in 2020.

A tweet similar to the text of the viral message was shared by a user on December 31, 2020.

"Students of class 10-12. The exams are from May 4 to 10 June. Practical exams from 1 March!" read the tweet.



Apart from this, we found another tweet by a user named 'Amar's Maths class' on December 31, 2020. The tweet had also shared an article link attached to the tweet.

"Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced the dates of the #CBSE2021 class 10th and 12th boards exams. The #CBSE exam will be held from May 4 to June 10 and the results will be declared by July 15," the user tweeted.

We then found a tweet of CBSE on February 01, 2022. The board had refuted the viral claim. The board said the notification is fake.

Press Information Bureau had also refuted the viral claim stating that the board has not issued any such notification.

According to a report published by the Hindustan Times on February 02, 2022, "Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has warned students against a fake notice on a circular having Class 10, 12 board exam dates for the year 2022. The fake circular carries CBSE Board Exams 2022 dates and is doing the rounds on many social media platforms. The Board is yet to release the Term 2 exam dates. The Board has also not released Term 1 results yet. Both result and exam dates will be available to candidates on the official site of CBSE when released."

"The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is soon going to announce the results of classes 10, 12 term 1 examinations. The 10th, 12th term 1 results are expected to be released this week, Spokesperson Rama Sharma earlier said "will inform" when asked whether 10th, 12th term 1 results will be announced this week. Once released, the students can download Class 10, 12 scorecards on the official websites- cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in. Apart from the board websites, the other official methods to check 10th, 12th results include the DigiLocker app and the website ā€“ digilocker.gov.in. Like last year, the result may also be available on the UMANG app and via SMS," NDTV said.


We lastly searched about the viral notification on the official website of CBSE. During the search, we found a notification related to the exam section.

On clicking on this, we found a similar notification. The notification letter, however, was dated December 31, 2020.


Hence, it is evident that the viral claim is False. CBSE has not issued any such notification related to the Board examination 2022. However, the viral notification is related to 2020, which is being shared as recent.
