Fact Check:
The claim is false.
NewsMeter checked the official website of Maruti Suzuki. We could not find any mention of any such contest wherein people are given a chance to win a car.
Responding to Aaj Tak's e-mail, Maruti Suzuki said they have nothing to do with the website 'palaceviable.xyz'.
When we clicked on the link, we were directed to the Maruti Suzuki website. It asks users to answer a few questions in order to receive the car as a gift. We noticed the users won the gift at a second chance. This indicates that the link is fake.
We clicked on the menu option. It did not function either.
Many questions are asked from people on this website. People are asked to furnish phone numbers, emails. Even wallet numbers are sought. There have been many reports of people being duped.
This pattern has been noticed in many scams. Cybercriminals use the information to hack their electronic devices and steal data. They also sell your personal information making you vulnerable to online fraud.
We also found that Assam based- Bongaigaon Times- has also warned people on social media about this scam.
