HYDERABAD: A video of a man dressed in the Australian cricket team's jersey and chanting "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" is being shared across social media platforms.

Netizens claim that the video was taken after Australia won against Pakistan in the recent T20 world cup match held in Dubai.

The video is being shared with the text, "He is saying Bharat Mata ki Jai" along with hashtags #Australia #Pakistan #AUSvPAK #TeamPakistan.

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found a report by DNA and India Times from January 2021. They reported that an Australian fan shouted `Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Vande Matram' after the Indian cricket team beat Australia in the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The victory at the Gabba Test was celebrated by Indian and Australian fans.

Several social media users and verified Twitter accounts shared the video in January 2021 as well.

Moreover, a youtube video of the incident from another angle helped us geolocate the clip. When compared to visuals on Google Maps, it was found that the video was taken at the Gabba, Brisbane Cricket Ground stadium.

Evidently, the video is not linked to Australia's win over Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup.
