Hyderabad: A picture of the current US President Joe Biden has gone viral on social media with a false claim that he spoke out in support of the ongoing farmers' protest in India against the newly introduced farm laws.

The claim upon translation from Hindi reads, "The farmers have been sitting at the Delhi border for 50 days in the cold and rain. Fact Check:

NewsMeter found that the claim is false as no such statement was made by Biden in support of the protest.

We performed a reverse image search and found news reports by Fox 10 News and C-SPAN that carried a video with the same clip and with the title "Biden campaign event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania". According to C-SPAN, Biden spoke at a 'Souls to the Polls' campaign rally in Philadelphia two days before the election day. He called the impact of the Coronavirus on African Americans a "mass casualty event in the black community". and also discussed his plans to recover the economy and address systemic racism.

Another report published by DD News with the title, "US Presidential Election: The war of words between Donald Trump-Joe Biden intensifies." was dated 31 October 2020.

It should be noted that as the video was available on the internet since October 2020 and the farmers' protest started in November 2020, the claim that Biden showed support towards the protest is false. President Biden has made no such statement.
