Hyderabad: A message has gone viral on Twitter stating that the Delhi Police has reached Sweden to arrest Greta Thunberg and bring her to India to investigate. She will soon be brought to India and our Judges will convict her of sedition as soon as possible! (sic)' #IndiaAgainstPropaganda #FarmersProtest

This viral message came to light after Greta Thunberg shared a toolkit on Twitter on the anti-farm law protests in India. She later deleted the tweet. The toolkit had several sections discussing the plan of action.

Fact Check:

The claim that the Delhi Police is in Sweden to arrest Greta Thunberg is FALSE.

Though an FIR has been registered against the creators of the toolkit, nobody, in particular, has been named in the FIR, not even Greta Thunberg.

"We haven't named anybody in the FIR. It's only against the creators of the toolkit which is a matter of investigation and the Delhi Police will be investigating that case," said Special Commissioner of Police (CP) Praveer Ranjan when asked if the police have named Thunberg in the FIR.

The police registered an FIR with its Cyber Cell to investigate an "international conspiracy" to defame the country, in the garb of support of the farmers` protest. Special Commissioner of Police Praveer Ranjan said that the FIR has been registered for "criminal conspiracy" and an attempt to "promote enmity between groups" under various sections of the IPC. He claimed that the violence on 26 January looks scripted as mentioned in a toolkit shared on social media.

Thunberg's tweet was said to have brought the Delhi police's attention to the existence of the toolkit. Leaders in the ruling BJP said the toolkit was "evidence of international plans for attacks against India".

The Indian government released a statement in response sharply warning against celebrities tweeting "sensationalist social media hashtags and comments".
