A video is viral on social media platforms with claims of muslims attacking policemen
āThis is the situation of policemen in a place with muslim majority population. This happened in Vaniyambadi in Vellore districtā, the viral post (Archive) claims. Some men wearing caps were seen in an altercation with policemen in the viral video.
With the intention of flaring up religious enmity, the posts claim that āIf hindus become minority, there is no security for anyone including the police and army. Some examples are Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Visharam, Kashmir, Malappuram and Kayalpattinamā¦ And several such places in Indiaā.

Newsmeter found the claims to be false and the video dates back to 2019.
On reverse image search to find the authenticity of the viral claim, handles including BJP Hosur and Pandi DM were found sharing the same video in February 2019. The same video has been shared widely with the same claims now.
Further search, we found a clarification issued by Tirupathur District Police in their official handle on February 27, 2025. āA video is being shared in the social media platforms with the claims that people are engaging in a tussle with a sub inspector of police from Vaniyambadi town police station. The incident is from 2019 and people are spreading the video stating that the incident happened recently.
The district of Vellore was trifurcated into Vellore, Tirupathur and Ranipet with the then chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami making the announcement during the independence day celebrations in August 2019. On November 28, 2019, Tirupathur became the 35th district in Tamil Nadu.
The caption in the viral claims state that the incident happened in Vaniyambadi in Vellore district. However, after trifurcation Vaniyambadi is a part of Tirupathur district. This also proves that the claims made are totally false. Further, the incident happened during the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) regime in 2019.
