Media outlets like Sambad English and United News of India have also reported the same. According to Sambad English, "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi removed the word 'BJP' from his Twitter bio on Monday triggering a barrage of rumours."

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that Varun Gandhi has not mentioned 'BJP' in his Twitter bio since 2014.

Our fact-check team checked Spoonbill, an online tool that tracks profile changes of Twitter users, and found that Gandhi last mentioned 'BJP' in his bio in August 2014, which was soon removed in October 2014. The line "National General Secretary, BJP" was removed on 14 October 2014. Since then there has been no mention of the party's name in his bio. He has, since then, only updated his bio four times and in neither of these changes was 'BJP' added.

This was also confirmed by the online archives of Gandhi's Twitter profile available on Wayback machine (digital archive) which said that the last time 'BJP' was mentioned in the bio was in 2014. Archives after August 2014 do not show 'BJP' in his bio.

Hence, it is clear that the viral claim that Varun Gandhi removed 'BJP' from his Twitter bio recently is false. Gandhi has not mentioned the party's name in his bio since 2014.
