Hyderabad: A post is making the rounds of social media with the claim that late actor Dilip Kumar donated all his property to the Wakf Board.
The post (originally in Hindi) reads, "Those who are crying over the demise of Mohammed Yusuf aka Dilip Kumar, open your eyes, he donated all his property to the Wakf Board and not to any temple."
Fact Check:
The claim is false. Dilip Kumar has not donated his property to the Wakf Board.
NewsMeter first checked if any mainstream media channels have covered the news of the late actor donating his property to the Board and found none.
Secondly, we found a tweet by Farooqi, the media manager of Dilip Kumar, that said, "Late Dilip Kumar didn't donate his property to waqf as made viral by many against the legendary actor. Disinformation is a tool mostly used to create and spread hatred using lies. In this case, to defame a legend who left all remembering him."
According to a report by the Times of India, Social Media Hoax Slayer (SMHS) Pankaj Jain told IANS, "I was barged with calls and messages to verify the truth behind the post and after huge efforts, I found that it was just a hoax, like many that are seen on social media. I even confirmed with Faisal Farooqui, the media manager of late Dilip Kumar Saab."
According to an article by the Pioneer, Jain said, "Our enquiries proved that the message is a hoax. Every word of the tweet was false. I even confirmed with Faisal Farooqui, the media manager of the late Dilip Kumar saab."
Hence the claim is false. The late Dilip Kumar did not donate his property to the Waqf Board.
