Fact Check:

NewsMeter found that the link is fake and that no such giveaway is being organized by Qatar Airways.

Once we clicked the link, we noticed that it is not the official link of Qatar Airways. Neither the menu option nor the name title on the viral site opens or redirects the user to the Qatar Airways official website. The viral link is not genuine.

The questionnaire follows the pattern of scams that lead to data breach. After answering the questions, the user is asked to select a gift box and at every trial that Newsmeter has conducted, at the second chance, a winner was selected. This indicates that the link is fake as everyone wins every time. The most crucial part to be noted is that the webpage stores the user's IP address, which clearly is a means of data theft and security breach.

Qatar Airways has made no announcement to give away Rs. 6,000 to a few lucky winners on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. If it was doing so, it would have been mentioned on its official website just like the airways did on the occasion of its 20th anniversary.

Further, a press release by Qatar Airways said the airline celebrated its 20th anniversary in September 2017, indicating that its 30th anniversary will be in 2027 and not 2021.

Evidently, it is clear that the link is a hoax. NewsMeter has reported similar hoax claims that can be viewed here, here, and here.

People are advised to refrain from clicking such links and entering their personal details on such websites as it could lead to data theft.
