Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a video that reportedly shows Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan opposing the rising inflation in the country. They are claiming that the CM is going against the Narendra Modi government.


In the video, Shivraj Singh Chouhan can be seen sitting with a group of people and singing the famous song "Mehangai Dayian Khaye Jaat Hai" from the movie 'Peepli Live'. Madhya Pradesh BJP president V.D Sharma can be seen next to Mr. Chouhan.

The claim is false.

NewsMeter searched the web using relevant keywords and found a video from 20 October 2021 when Shivraj Singh Chouhan had reached Panna in Madhya Pradesh to attend the Sharad Purnima festival. As per the report, he can be seen doing kirtan-bhajan in the temple. The original video was published on the official Facebook account of Zee Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh.

Punjabi Kesari MP had uploaded the same video on its YouTube channel. It said the CM went to a temple for Sharad Purnima celebrations. The video shows Mr. Chouhan engrossed in bhajan kirtan.

Another YouTube channel, IBC24, had also uploaded the video. It said, on 20 October, on the occasion of the Sharad Purnima festival, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with his wife Sadhna Singh, BJP state president V.D Sharma and mineral resource and labour minister Brijendra Pratap Singh attended the Mahotsav. Everyone sang hymns at the Jugal Kishore Mandir. They were heard singing Jai Jai Radha Raman Hari Bol. V.D Sharma was seen playing the jhal-manjira (hand cymbals).

The same video was uploaded on the official Twitter account of the CM. The caption read, "Jugal Kishore temple, Panna me puja". It was accompanied by the hashtag #Sharad Purnima.

Hence, the claim is false. The original video was taken when the Madhya Pradesh CM was doing bhajan kirtan at a temple in Panna, Madhya Pradesh. The viral video has been doctored.
