Fact Check: False tweet attributed to Anna Hazare

Hyderabad: A screenshot of a tweet reportedly by Anna Hazare is being widely being shared on social media. In the tweet, Hazare claims that he could not meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray because he was threatened by Sanjay Raut.

The claim is false.
NewsMeter performed a keyword search which led us to news reports by Business Standard, Deccan Herald, and Republic World. According to these report, Anna Hazare has warned the Uddhav Thackeray government that he will launch an agitation if the Maharashtra government does not enact the Lokayukta Act.
Since the viral tweet mentioned the Twitter handle "Anna_Hazare_IND", we traced the Twitter handle and found that it was created in August 2021. It has more than 2,000 followers. The account is also not verified.
We tried searching for Hazare's official Twitter handle and found many that claimed to be his Twitter account but did not find his official or verified handle.

It is evident that the claim made through the viral post is false and the tweet has wrongly been attributed to Anna Hazare.
