Claim:The song ‘Godi Media’ features the work of famous Sikh singer BV Singh, who mocks the Indian media.
Fact:The claim is false. The song is AI-generated. There is no information about singer BV Singh, and the artist’s name was made up to promote AI-generated political content.
Hyderabad: A video is circulating on social media with the claim that it shows the latest release by a Sikh singer, BV Singh.
The name of the music video is 'Godi Media', allegedly released by Jamnoor Records. The music video features several references to the farmers’ protests, alleging that Indian media ignores Punjab’s agrarian crisis while repeatedly covering issues related to former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.
Sharing the 3-minute 7-second-long music video on X, user @abubakarqassam wrote, “Famous Sikh Singer BV Singh releases a new song mocking Indian ‘Godi Media’ for highlighting Imran Khan 24/7 instead of genuinely asking questions from the Indian Government on the plight of Indian Sikhs. What a shame for Godi Media!” (Archive)
The post also had a couple of comments that echoed the same opinion.
A comment by the user @AleezaPizza_ reads, “When a Sikh artist like BV Singh has to sing about it, you know the problem is real: Indian ‘Godi Media’ would rather obsess over Imran Khan than confront its own government on the plight of Indian Sikhs. That’s not journalism, that’s wilful blindness.”
Another commentator, @etcFatima, wrote, “When BV Singh raises genuine concerns about Sikh rights in India, the Godi Media looks the other way and returns to its favourite topic: Imran Khan. This obsession exposes the sorry state of their journalism.”
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The viral song is AI-generated. The singer is also a fabrication. There is no singer by that name.
We checked major music platforms like Apple and Spotify for songs by the artist BV Singh. There is no singer profile by this name, and we did not find any songs listed with BV Singh as the singer.
We have also checked Gaana and JioSaavn. We found no artists by the name BV Singh and no songs are listed. There are no news reports or credible social media posts about the artist.
Source of the song
The YouTube channel of Jamnoor Records (now inaccessible due to government orders) uploaded the viral song on December 1 with the title, ‘Viral Punjabi Song | GODI MEDIA | BV SINGH | Jamnoor Records’. The description states, “Singer: BV Singh, Album: Voice of Punjab, Location: Amritsar, India”.
Analysis of the audio
We closely analysed the song and found the vocals to be unnatural and synthetic at times.
To determine whether the song contains Artificially Generated (AI) content, we used the tool Hiya Audio Intelligence. The tool determined that the song is likely to have been generated using AI. There is only a 10 per cent match with human markers.
The video features a slideshow of several images of protests, Indian news anchors, former PM of Pakistan Imran Khan and more images showing protests for Khalistan. There is no AI manipulation in the video.
Are there other songs by ‘BV Singh’?
We found another song by the artist BV Singh (also inaccessible) uploaded to YouTube on July 16 by ‘JD News’. The title reads, ‘Famous Indian Sikh B.V. Singh has released a news song in support of Pakistan’.
Going by the thumbnail, the name of this song is ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. The lyrics feature a heavy accusatory tone towards the Indian government. This video has garnered over 2.8 lakh views on YouTube.
Using Hiya Audio Intelligence, we found that the audio was generated or modified by AI. The tool detected only a 2 per cent match with live human markers.
YouTube channel hosting many anti-government media
Jamnoor Records features many such music videos by different artists, which carry a heavy anti-Indian government sentiment. A music video uploaded on November 21 is titled ‘Viral Air Force Song | Fall of HAL Tejas | Dubai airshow’.
This music video, with over 28 thousand views, references and mocks the crash of an Indian Air Force Tejas fighter jet during an aerobatic display at the Dubai Air Show.
Another anti-government piece of media on the channel was a Telugu music video by singer Karthik Nakhul with a derogatory title aimed at the PM. There are no records of the song or the artist listed on major music platforms. This video ridicules Prime Minister Modi and other ministers like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and S Jaishankar.
The viral song is AI-generated and the YouTube channel Jamnoor Records features several such AI-generated songs, which are aimed at ridiculing the Indian government and leaders.
There is no publicly available information about the supposed famous Sikh singer BV Singh. The same trend continues with other singers featured on this channel. This suggests that no such singer exists and that the channel is using fictitious artist identities for AI-generated political content.
Therefore, NewsMeter concludes that the viral claim is false.
