Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a 30-second CCTV footage of a bull attacking an elderly man, tossing him in the air. Several people mocking are his death claiming that a Muslim man was attacked by Hindu deity 'Nandi' on Bakrid. (archive link)

The claim is false.

NewsMeter found a report by The Tribune from 12 July that stated, "The deceased has been identified as Deep Chand (65) of Sondhapur village (Panipat). The incident got recorded by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby building."

Keyword searches found several other news reports about the incident that identified the man as Deep Chand.




ETV Bharat had also reported the elderly man's death. The report said he was admitted to Civil Hospital in Panipat and later shifted to PGI Rohtak. Deep Chand succumbed to his injuries. ETV has also shared a photo of the deceased.

Many other fact-check organizations have debunked the claim, too.

Hence, the claim that the video shows a Muslim man being attacked by a bull is false. News reports prove that the man was a Hindu named Deep Chand.
