Fact Check: How old news is being twisted to build narrative ahead of assembly elections
It is being claimed that this video was shot in a school and children were being administered an oath not to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in coming polls.
By Tejal Sinha Published on 2 Nov 2021 3:45 AM GMTHyderabad: Social media users are sharing a video of people being administered an oath.
It is being claimed that this video was shot in a school and children were being administered an oath not to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in coming polls. People were also being asked to make others aware of BJP's corruption.
Social media users are demanding action against the school administration.
"What a big conspiracy is being hatched against the country and that too in schools. How children's minds are being poisoned. Make this video so viral that this school should be closed forever. Action should be taken against school principal," translates the caption of one such post.

Fact Check
The claim is misleading.
NewsMeter firstly performed a keyword search that led us to various reports published by the mainstream media in 2018.
The team found a report by Aaj Tak on January 28, 2018. It was titled `Madhya Pradesh: Oath administered to children, will not vote for BJP'.
The report carried the screengrab of the video.
"This video was taken on January 26. In the video, people say, 'I will not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party until the practice of online examination is stopped'. Nor will I support any worker of Bharatiya Janata Party'," the report said.
Navbharat Times (NT) also reported it on January 28, 2018. "The oath was administered at Vijayalakshmi Industrial Training Institute, Itarsi. Teachers administered an oath to their students that they would not vote for BJP until the practice of online examination is done away with," NT said.
"Teachers of Vijayalakshmi Industrial Training Institute in Itarsi made students take a pledge not to vote for BJP in the upcoming elections and not support BJP workers in any way till practice of online examinations is stopped," ANI tweeted on January 28, 2018.
#WATCH Teachers of Vijaylaxmi Industrial Training Institute in Itarsi ask students to take pledge not to vote for BJP in the upcoming elections & support it in any manner until it stops online examinations #MadhyaPradesh (26.01.18) pic.twitter.com/PY3S721Mbq

The Fact Check team lastly found a video report uploaded on the YouTube channel of 'WION' on January 29, 2018. The description of the video read, "Itarsi, MP: Students asked not to vote for BJP."
It is therefore evident that the claim is misleading. A 2018 video of students is falsely linked to upcoming elections.
