Fact Check: Images of married couple shared with communal twist

Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing images of a couple with a communal twist.

Users claim a Muslim man lured a Jain girl in Nellore. Users said when the Jain community decided to evacuate 1800 Muslims from their shops and factories, the girl was sent home safely within 9 hours.

Fact Check

The claim made through the viral post is misleading.

NewsMeter performed a Google Reverse Image Search which led us to a report on blogs website 'MYMAGMOMENTS'. The team found both the exact same pictures in the blog along with other pictures of the wedding ceremony, which are viral.

The blogger said both of them got married under 4 different traditions and beliefs. Both of them took a walk in the Ram temple, then performed the Nikah and finally the 'pheras' on the beach.

The team had also found a report published by NDTV on March 28, 2017. They identified the couple as Ankita Agarwal and Faiz Rehman. They reported how they overcome the obstacles.

"The couple got married on February 17, 2015, in a simple ceremony at Ram Mandir in Mumbai. The couple had also exchanged the garlands during a court marriage under the special marriage act. The couple then performed the traditional Muslim Nikaah and then the Hindu ceremony in Goa," the report said.

The team also found reports by `Scoopwhoop' and `Bollywood Shaadis' about the couple's journey and also published the viral images.

The team also searched for any such incident that took place in Nellore but found none.

It is therefore evident that the claim is misleading.
