This YouTube video is a 22-second news report. Before the viral video is shown, the news reporter is heard saying, “The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs has demolished 31 illegal fishing boats. The vessels originally from the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar were blown up at five different locations across the country. The move is part of an ongoing campaign against illegal fishing.”

International news outlets such as RTS, Global News and YTN have shared the viral video with the same information.

According to the reports, the Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries announced that 31 illegal fishing vessels were destroyed on February 22, 2016. The boats were empty at the time of the destruction. Three of them were from Vietnam and seven others from Malaysia.

The authorities also destroyed four Indonesian boats that did not have proper documentation. Indonesia had previously destroyed 151 illegal fishing vessels across the archipelago.
