Fact Check

The claim is False.

On having a close look, we did not find the viral message to be authentic. Firstly, the message had mentioned the name of the scheme as 'PM Laadli Lakshmi Yojana' instead of 'Pradhan Mantri Laadli Lakshmi Yojana'. Secondly, the message was incomplete. There was no further information about the scheme and how to apply.

On further investigation, we performed a keyword search to find out about the scheme. We did not find any such scheme run by the central government.

However, we found a report published on the website 'pmmodiyojana'. According to the website, the Laadli Lakshmi Yojana is a scheme by the Madhya Pradesh government.

"Madhya Pradesh Ladli Laxmi Yojana has been launched by the state government on 1st April 2007 to make the future of girls bright. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 1,18,000 to the girls of the state by the Madhya Pradesh government will be provided by the Madhya Pradesh government to the girl child of the state. "According to this scheme, benefits will be provided to the daughters of poor families. First of all, within one year of the birth of the daughter, get her registered in this scheme. So that your daughter can get the benefit of the scheme. The state government has brought this scheme to improve the education of the girl child. Accordingly, the amount received will be given in installments. On the other hand, if the girl child leaves her studies once, then she will stop getting the benefit of the scheme. At the same time, according to this scheme, not 18 years but 21 years have been fixed for getting married. In such a situation, if the girl gets married in 21 years, then the amount will be sent by the government to her bank account. If a family has adopted a girl child. So even in such a situation, they can get the benefit of the scheme. At the same time, the benefit of this scheme will be given to both of the twin girls born during birth. According to the scheme, the amount given to the daughter can be used for education or marriage. But you cannot use this money for a dowry," reads another report on 'MPNRC'.
