Fact Check: Is the Rajnikant Medical College real?

Hyderabad: A photo of a college entrance gate with the name 'Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce and Arts' has gone viral on social media.

A Facebook who shared the photo wrote, "This is India's new education policy. Can anybody explain what exactly is taught in this college?"

Social media users have been sharing this claim and image since 2011. The posts can be viewed here, here, here and here.

Fact Check:

The image is morphed.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found a similar image by The Hindu Business Line. However, the name on the gate reads Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and not Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce and Arts. The same image was also published by The Indian Express. The caption said that it showed the Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB) in Odisha's Bhubaneswar.

NewsMeter then compared the two images (viral and XIMB) and found that the two images are of the same college. A photo of XIMB was morphed and falsely shared as 'Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce and Arts'.

We searched online for XIMB and found many similar images.

It is evident that a morphed image of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, is falsely being shared as that of 'Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce and Arts.' Hence, the viral claim is fake.
