Hyderabad: A 2 minute 19 second long video of a woman dancing to Rajasthani folk music is widely being shared on social media.

It is being claimed that the woman in the video is IAS officer Rukmani Riar.


Fact Check

The claim is False.

NewsMeter began its investigation by performing a Google Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a video on YouTube 'Rajasthani Online Media' uploaded on December 19, 2020. . It had similar visuals.

The video was titled 'New Rajasthani Marriage Dance'.


Apart from this, we also found this video uploaded on Facebook on June 13, 2019. The post was captioned 'The Jatani of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan danced so well, balancing the glass and pot kept on top of her head.'

Hence, it is evident that the claim made through the viral post is False. The woman in the viral video is not IAS officer Rukmani Riar. Nowhere did the post mention the woman to be the IAS officer.
