Claim:A voter in Jubilee Hills claims that if KCR campaigns for BRS in the bypoll, instead of 10 votes, the party will not even get a single vote. He also praises Naveen Yadav, the Congress party candidate.
Fact:The claim is false. The viral clips are edited.

Hyderabad: A compilation of four video clips is going viral on social media in the context of the Jubilee Hills bypoll scheduled for November 11. The viral video shows people expressing their opinion about Congress and BRS.

Jubilee Hills bypoll

The by-election in Jubilee Hills constituency was necessitated due to the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. While the BRS party has announced the late MLA’s wife, Maganti Sunitha, as its candidate, the Congress party picked Naveen Yadav.

The first and the last clips show a man in a red cap and a beard seemingly expressing his positive opinion about the Congress candidate and taking a jibe at former chief minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao. The clips show him talking to a media person from Aadya TV.

First clip

“Everyone here knows about Naveen Yadav. I have nothing to say. Whatever the public is talking about, whatever the talk among people is, you can ask the public again, and they’ll tell you. Not me, everyone will say it,” the person said in the first clip.

Second clip

In the second clip, he appeared, he said, “If KCR sir comes and campaigns, instead of 10 votes, even one vote won’t be cast.”

The video also has text on it which stated, “If KCR comes, we’ll chase him away, he won’t get even a single vote.”

The other two clips are of a man and a woman talking in favour of the Congress Party, Naveen Yadav and CM Revanth Reddy, in the context of the bypoll.

The video was shared by a Facebook page named Chakirevu with the caption, “People are ready to beat up if KCR’s name is mentioned..” (Archive)

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The clips showing the man in the cap talking about BRS chief KCR and Congress candidate Naveen Yadav have been edited.

We first searched for the video clips of the man in the red cap.

Using reverse image search, we found the viral interview uploaded to Aadya TV’s YouTube channel on October 27. The title of the video is ‘Poor Naveen Yadav.. | MIM Leaders Neglect Naveen Yadav in Jubilee Hills By-Election | Revanth | Aadya.’

This video contained the entire interview, split into two clips in the viral compilation.

First clip of man speaking about Naveen Yadav

In the YouTube video, the interview starts with the man praising BRS and welfare and development works in Jubilee Hills done by Maganti Gopinath, whom he refers to as ‘Gopanna.’ He also mentioned that people are keen on voting for BRS only.

The first clip can be seen between the 2:34 and 2:53 minute marks in the video

The man said, “Everyone here knows about Naveen Yadav. I have nothing to say. Whatever the public is talking about, whatever the talk among people is, you can ask the public again and they’ll tell you. Not just me, everyone will say it. So, there’s no situation here where anyone is even looking towards Congress.”

The interview continues with the man reiterating that Naveen Yadav doesn’t have a chance of winning in Jubilee Hills. However, that part was edited out, making it look like the man was speaking positively about Naveen Yadav.

Second clip of man speaking about KCR

We found the second clip of the man speaking about KCR in the same interview.

From the 3:12-minute mark to the 3:40-minute mark, the person can be seen saying, “Recently, Naveen Anna said that KCR sir is coming here to campaign, sir. Then they asked if Revanth Reddy would also come and campaign. When asked that question, he didn’t say anything. I’m saying, if KCR sir comes and campaigns, in place of 10 votes, they will get 100. But if Revanth Reddy comes and campaigns here, instead of 10 votes, even one vote won’t be cast.”

There is a cut in the video after the sentence ‘I’m saying, if KCR sir comes and campaigns’ and before the words ‘instead of 10 votes, even one vote won’t be cast.’ This cut made it look like the man was talking about KCR instead of CM Revanth Reddy.

We also found the unedited clip of the man shared on X, dated October 28. The caption read, “If KCR sir comes and campaigns in Jubilee Hills, the votes will increase from 10 to 100. If Revanth Reddy comes and campaigns, not even a single vote will be cast where 10 votes would have been.”

Here too, he was only talking about CM Revanth and not KCR.

Therefore, NewsMeter concludes that the viral claim is false. In the original interview, the man is seen talking in support of KCR and BRS, not Congress. The clip is edited.

The other two clips in the compilation

We found that the other two clips are not edited.

The clip of the woman was found on the YouTube channel of Legend TV, dated October 29. There are no cuts in the video.

The clip of the second man was uploaded to Legend TV channel on October 28. This video was also not edited.
