He has a YouTube channel 'Khan GS Research Center' and has over 9 million subscribers. `Khan Sir' makes videos on different subjects for students preparing for competitive exams.
FACT CHECK:
The controversy over his name sprung up after "Khan Sir" made a YouTube video on the France-Pakistan relations. Social media users trolled him when the video went viral and called him "anti-Muslim".
On May 26, "Khan Sir" posted a video where he attempted to address this issue. He said his YouTube videos were taken out of context and circulated with false claims. He clearly stated that he never admitted that his name is Amit Singh. He said he referred to himself as Amit Singh in a humorous manner when his students kept asking for his name.
He said he has published several books under the name "Khan Sir". He said according to law one can't give out fake names for publications. The ISBN number, logo, and registration of books have all been made under "Khan Sir". He said that he has written books in Urdu as well and questioned people as to how "Amit Singh" could have possibly done that, subtly indicating that he might indeed be a Muslim.
While answering the question on his religion, he insists on being identified as a "Hindustani". He said his pictures in Muslim and Hindu festival attire were when he celebrated Eid and Raksha Bandhan. He said he recites verses from Quran and Gita and wishes to be identified as "Hindustani".
However, not once has he clearly revealed his name. No clarification has been given on his name as of now. It should be noted that "Khan Sir" plays around with his sentences. Concluding anything from his video is not accurate unless stated straightforwardly.
