Hyderabad: Famous Patna-based educator Khan Sir recently tied the knot. While the wedding itself was relatively private, photos and videos from the reception, attended by several educators and politicians, showed his wife with her face covered in a ghunghat (traditional veil), which sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.
Many people praised the gesture, calling it a mark of cultural tradition. Others, however, criticised the practice, questioning why a progressive figure like Khan Sir would promote something they considered regressive or patriarchal.
In this context, a video purportedly showing Khan Sir’s wife revealing her face has been circulating on social media.
A Facebook user shared the video with the caption, “Khan Sir’s wife revealed her face.” (Archive)
NewsMeter found that the claim is false, as the video is AI-generated.
Discrepancies in the video
Upon careful examination of the video, we noticed several inconsistencies.
For instance, the bridal nose ring, which is visible beneath the veil, mysteriously disappears when the bride supposedly reveals her face. Additionally, there is an unnatural distortion on Khan’s face and hands during a handshake with a politician dressed in a white kurta-pyjama. These anomalies suggest that the video may have been AI-generated.
Watermark in the video
We also noticed a Newz Yatra watermark on the video. Upon investigating, we found that the video was posted by the Instagram account of Newz Yatra on June 6. In the caption, the account clearly stated that the video was created using AI.
Result of the AI tool
We analysed the video using Hive Moderation’s AI detection tool, which determined that the content is highly likely to be AI-generated or a deepfake, assigning it an aggregate confidence score of 99.2 per cent.
