Fact check: Lady sub-inspector in viral picture is not woman who sold stone blocks.

Two pictures are going viral with a narrative that they belong to the same woman who fought against the circumstances and became the police officer.

In the first picture, we can see a woman carrying stone blocks on her head and a baby in her lap, and in the second picture, we can see image of a lady police officer along with her family.

The narrative in Telugu claims that "నెత్తిమీద రోళ్లు..

"She is Padmasila, who used to sell stone blocks for a living, After finishing her degree, Padmashila wrote public service exams and became SI. Despite being a mother and selling stone blocks on the streets, she was able to achieve her dreams and become SI," reads the English translation of the message.

These pictures were shared with the same narrative by others in the country.

Fact check:

The claim that the woman selling stone blocks in the first picture is the lady inspector in the second picture is FALSE.

These pictures belong to two different people. When performed a Google Reverse image search, we found that the lady inspector named Padmashila Tirpude belonged to Maharashtra. Several Marathi reports have been found about her success story. Tirpude, who now is an Assistant inspector of Police in Nagpur district denied the reports that she used to sell stone blocks. "My past and struggles are being misrepresented. The question is how to look at a society that spreads misconceptions," Tirpude, a native of Bhandara district, was quoted by Maharashtra Times.

She graduated in 2009 and became Sub Inspector in 2013. The viral picture was taken then. She rubbished the claims saying that it is a coincidence that the woman selling stone blocks looks like her.

The picture of the woman selling the stone blocks was first shared by a Facebook group named Zindagi images, by Suresh Gundeti in July 2017. In October 2017, Suresh Gundeti gave an explanation to the photograph stating that the lady in the picture belongs to Koratla, Telangana.

We can find that explanation here in this link.

This claim has been debunked by Alt news, Vishvas news also.

Therefore, the claim that Lady SI used to sell stone blocks, before becoming Sub-inspector is FALSE.
