FACT CHECK:

We searched online for news reports on Thackeray announcing the lockdown and found none.

In his address on February 21, the CM said that it would take a few days to ascertain the situation and that a lockdown will have to be announced if the cases keep increasing. However, the lockdown has not yet been confirmed.

We then found a tweet by TV9 Marathi on March 22, 2020, that carried the same still.

Below is a comparison that shows the difference between the real and the viral bulletin. Upon close observation, it can be noticed that the font of the text plate is different in the viral screenshot.

Evidently, a screenshot of a TV9 Marathi is viral with the false claim that Thackeray has announced a lockdown from March 1.
