Hyderabad: Nihang Sikhs had surrendered to the police in connection with the Lakhbir Singh murder case. The court has remanded them to custody.

Jupinderjit Singh, a journalist with the Tribune, had recently published a report about Baba Aman Singh, the leader of the Nihang organization allegedly responsible for Singhu Border killings.

The Tribune report evoked mixed reactions on social media. Many social media users blamed BJP for the incident and called it a conspiracy against Nihang Sikhs.

Amid this, three pictures are widely being shared on social media in which one person can be seen with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) supremo Mohan Bhagwat, Pracharak Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Users identify the man as Tribune journalist Jupinderjit Singh.

Fact Check

The claim made through the viral post is misleading.

NewsMeter firstly took a closer look at the pictures that went viral and found that these pictures are of two different people.

First Image

The Fact Check team then performed a Google Reverse Image Search found the first viral image uploaded by the Facebook page "INDTVUSA" on September 20, 2017. We found that this picture related to Pracharak Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale's visit to the USA in 2017. There were a set of pictures. We also found the viral picture. In the original picture, Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale is seen with the editor of Khalsa Today from the USA Sukhi Chahal.

Second Image

The team then performed another Google Reverse Image Search of the second viral picture which led us to the Twitter handle of Sukhi Chahal on December 25, 2018. In the tweet, Sukhi Chahal had shared a set of images with a caption, "Dr @Swamy39, we r grateful to you & your party for keeping the promise as you did at #NY Gurudwara to deliver justice to #1984SikhGenocide."

The viral image was shared by Sukhi Chahal on Twitter.

Third Image

The Fact Check team then found that Jupinderjit Singh had confirmed to Vishwas News that he met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. However, in the other two pictures, it is Sukhi Chahal.

The team compared the images of Sukhi Chahal and Jupinderjit Singh. The team found that it is clearly evident that the man in the first and the second image is not Jupinderjit Singh.

It is therefore evident that the claim made through the viral post is misleading. Man with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) supremo Mohan Bhagwat and Pracharak Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala is Editor-in-Chief of The Khalsa Today. Man with Arvind Kejriwal is Jupinderjit Singh, a journalist from The Tribune.
