HYDERABAD: After the arrest of West Bengal's Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader Pamela Goswami for alleged possession of cocaine, an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi cycling with her in a rally has gone viral on social media.
Several users shared the image with the caption, "Photo-jeevi with cocaine-jeevi".
However, NewsMeter found that the image is morphed. An image of the PM on a cycle from 2017 has been edited and superimposed on Goswami's picture.
FACT CHECK
We searched online for pictures of Modi on a cycle and found the image from 2017 on several websites.
The original image was shared by the PM on Instagram in 2017, thanking the Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mark Rutte, for giving him a cycle.
We also found the original image on Facebook of Goswami cycling in a BJP rally from December 2020.
A comparison of the original images with the viral image can be seen below.
Evidently, the image of Modi cycling with Goswami has been morphed.
