Hyderabad: An image has gone viral on Twitter that looks like Shiv Sena Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Raut is making tea for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Cabinet Minister Ashok Chavan.
This image became viral after Thackeray called Modi at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence in New Delhi on 8 June. The claim read," The man who used to keep targeting the tea seller 24 hours... Today, he is making tea for the same tea seller."
Fact Check
The viral image is morphed.
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found several news reports that carried a similar image. However, in all these reports, Sanjay Raut was missing from the pictures.
According to Hindustan Times and Times of India, Thackeray met the other three men in Delhi and discussed a number of issues, including reservations for Maratha and other backward classes (OBCs), goods and services tax (GST) compensation, among others. According to a senior Shiv Sena leader, the meeting lasted for half an hour, in which Thackeray spoke about political issues. However, no reports mention Sanjay Raut being present at that meeting.
The image of Sanjay Raut sitting on the floor was taken from last year when he played the harmonium as India began its 21-day lockdown.
