Fact Check: Morphed photo of Kejriwal's newspaper ad on Gandhi Jayanti goes viral

Hyderabad: People are sharing a newspaper advertisement of a large photo of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Beside him, is a small image of Mahatma Gandhi.

Above Kejriwal's photo is the famous quote by Gandhi "Be the change you want to see in the world" written in Hindi. Below the photo, a text reads, "Today on Gandhi Jayanti, let us take a pledge to follow the principles laid down by Gandhiji. Tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary."

A Twitter user shared the photo along with Gaurav Pandhi's tweet that said, "Kejriwal is no different from Modi… a megalomaniac!"

Fact Check:

The viral image is photoshopped.

NewsMeter ran a reverse image search and found the original advertisement published in Dainik Bhaskar on 2 October 2021. It was on page 11 of the newspaper.

As can be clearly seen, the advertisement has been photoshopped.

Aam Aadmi Party Delhi has said that the image is fake. In a tweet, it said, "FAKE NEWS. This is a morphed photo of the Hon'ble CM of Delhi which is being circulated with malicious intent." It had shared the real photo.

The advertisement was also in The Times of India.

Hence, the viral photo is fake. A newspaper advertisement has been morphed.
