NewsMeter found that the claim is false as the viral video shows an avalanche that took place at Kapuche Lake, Nepal.

A reverse image search led us to an Instagram video from January 11, 2021 with the caption: "Huge Avalanche at Kapuche Lake".

We then searched using the keyword "Huge Avalanche at Kapuche Lake" and found several videos that showed the same incident from January 2021. All these videos mentioned the location as Kapuche Lake.

We also found several articles by AGU BLOGOSPHERE and TH

E WEATHER on this incident. It stated that the incident took place in Nepal. The title reads: " Kapuche Lake, Nepal: a video of an avalanche air blast"

We also compared the visuals in the video with images of the Kapuche Glacier on Google Maps.
