Hyderabad: A video circulating on social media claims to show the house of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu burning.

Earlier, when the conflict between Israel and Iran broke out, Iran claimed that missiles had struck Netanyahu’s office and the home of Israeli Air Force chief Tomer Bar. However, the Prime Minister’s Office dismissed the claim as ‘fake news’.

Days later, a similar claim began circulating on social media. The viral clip shows a house engulfed in massive flames, with a firefighter seen outside the building.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. A video of a fire incident in Galloway, New Jersey, was falsely shared as footage of the Israeli PM’s burning house.

Analysis of the video

We took several screenshots from the video and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens.

The search showed that the video was originally posted on Facebook on February 9, before the Iran-Israel conflict began. The caption of the video indicated that it showed a house fire in Galloway, New Jersey, in the United States.

We found a news report, dated February 10, that featured a screenshot from the viral clip.

It reported that a house fire broke out in Galloway Township on February 8. All residents were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Several other local news reports also stated that the fire occurred at 629 Park Place in Galloway Township on February 8. According to the reports, firefighters responded to the late-night blaze after residents were awakened by smoke detectors.

No evidence of attack on Netanyahu’s residence

No official reports suggest that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house was targeted or set on fire.

Therefore, we conclude that the claim is false.
