Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections were held on December 1, 2020. Counting of votes in this keenly-fought election is underway today. Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has set up counting centers at 30 places in the city.

The claim that a 17-year-old student was appointed as a Polling officer in GHMC elections is FALSE.

Election Commission released a statement that the boy has been appointed to conduct webcasting. Only students with computer knowledge were recruited for webcasting and it had nothing to do with age.

However, the boy was sitting with other polling staff only to have lunch, but is not associated with the election duties.

Therefore, the claim that a 17-year-old boy was allotted duty of polling officer in GHMC elections is FALSE.
