HYDERABAD: A video has gone viral on social media claiming that Union Home Minister Amit Shah fell from the stage during a rally in Kolkatta.

The caption along the image reads: ''Amit Shah fell off the stage while running after seeing farmers in Kolkata rally.''

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter found that the claims are false as the incident took place in Madhya Pradesh in 2018.

We checked on Youtube with the keywords "Amit Shah Falling" and came across several videos that displayed the incident. All these reports were dated 2018 that indicates that the incident did not take place recently.

The videos claim that the incident took place in Madhya Pradesh in 2018. The video by TIMES OF INDIA is titled" BJP president Amit Shah falls off stage during a rally in Madhya Pradesh". This incident took place in 2018 during an election rally in Ashok Nagar where Amit Shah was campaigning for his party for the upcoming assembly elections.




We also found a news report by NDTV with a screenshot of the viral video with the title" BJP Chief Amit Shah Falls During Madhya Pradesh Roadshow, Escapes Unhurt". It reads, " BJP president Amit Shah stumbled and fell while alighting from a vehicle after his roadshow in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. One of his bodyguards quickly offered support and Amit Shah managed to get up unhurt immediately. The incident happened at the Tulsi Park".

Evidently, it is clear that the incident took place in Madhya Pradesh in 2018 and during his recent trip to Kolkata.
