If the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had announced such a scheme, all leading news organizations would have reported it but we found no such reports.
The New Indian Express on 11 November 2021 had reported that government hospitals will get a new look in AP by December 2021. Jagan has instructed officials to expedite works of YSR health clinics and Nadu-Nedu in government hospitals across the state, it said. However, there was no mention of giving Rs. 1 lakh a year as medical assistance to those who donated blood.
Andhra Pradesh Home minister Mekathoti Sucharita was quoted in a recent press meet as saying that the concept of providing free medical care to those who donated blood was given by a blood donation company called 'SaveYo'.
SaveYo had told Factly, a fact-checking website, that the scheme was already underway and money needed for it was being provided by Suits.life, some NGOs, and blood donation camps. It had clarified that the Andhra Pradesh government has nothing to do with the initiative.
Hence, the claim is false. SaveYo, a blood donation centre, came up with the concept of free medical treatment of up to Rs. 1 lakh a year to blood donors in Andhra Pradesh.
