FACT CHECK: No change in age limit for 2022 army recruitment, viral post is false

HYDERABAD: A screenshot that seems to be taken from a news bulletin of 'Zee News' is viral on Whatsapp. Users claim that the Government of India has given 2-year relaxation in the age limit for the 2022 Indian army recruitment.
"Army Recruitment 2022 New Rule: 2 years relaxation in age of GD'… The hard work of lakhs of youth across the country has paid off (sic)," the screenshot reads.
FACT CHECK:
The claim is false.
At first glance, it is obvious that the text has been edited. The text 'New Rule' has been written five times on a thin strip at the bottom and hints at the picture being edited. The red-colored box that has the text 'Army Recruitment 2022' has also been edited.
NewsMeter compared the viral image and an original news bulletin of 'Zee News' and noticed the difference between the fonts. Clearly, the screenshot is fake. Moreover, Zee News has not reported any news about the two-year relaxation in 2022 army recruitment.
According to the official website ' joinindianarmy.nic.in ', currently the age limit for the post of a Soldier General Duty in the Indian Army is 17 years to 21 years.
NewsMeter also found a screenshot of this website from 2015 on the Wayback Machine and found that the same age limit was eligible then too. Clearly, there has been no change in the age limit.
Furthermore, the 'Press Information Bureau' has also refuted the claim calling it fake and further clarifying that there is no such change in the age limit.
Evidently, it is clear that there is no such change in the age limit for the 2022 army recruitment.
Thus, the claim is false.
