Fact Check: No cop was assaulted by mob in Kondapur, viral claim is false
A video claiming to show a group of Muslims thrashing a police official in Kondapur in Hyderabad has gone viral.

Hyderabad: A video claiming to show a group of Muslims thrashing a police official in Kondapur in Hyderabad has gone viral. The video is being circulated on all platforms of social media, raising concerns during the lockdown period. It has also been claimed that this scuffle occurred on 28 May, 2021.

The claim that the video showed a mob attacking a police official in Hyderabad is false.
The Cyberabad police refuted these claims and clarified that this is false news. A tweet by the Cyberabad police stated that, "Fake news. A video of some persons beating up supposedly police personnel at some unknown location is being circulated on social media as that of the Kondapur area of Cyberabad. It is clarified that no such incident has taken place anywhere in Cyberabad and this news is fake (sic)."
This was also shared by the director of digital media, Telangana government, Konatham Dileep.
To find out the origin of the video, NewsMeter extracted the keyframes of the video and performed a reverse image search in Google. After this, we found that the video has been on the internet since October 2020.
The same video was shared by several news media outlets in Gujarat.
These reports stated that a drunk constable was brutally beaten by six people. The incident took place around Sola police station area of Ahmedabad in October 2020. The video of the police being chased and beaten has gone viral. This has been confirmed by Sola's PIA itself.
The cop, later identified as Sunilsinh Chauhan, 33, a resident of Danilimda Police Lines who was posted at Sola police station in July 2019, was roaming about in Chandlodia when the incident took place.
According to locals, at about 12.45 am, Chauhan went to a paan shop where he threatened some persons and then began verbally abuse them. They got angry at the drunk cop's abusive behaviour and began abusing him back. Chauhan then slapped one of the men, due to which others attacked him.
This claim has been debunked by ALT news too.
Hence, the video was taken in 2020 in Sola, Gujarat, when a drunk constable was attacked by an angry mob. So, the claim that the video is from Kondapur, Hyderabad is false.
