Hyderabad: Social media users are claiming that Jio, Airtel, and Vi are giving 3 months free recharge to their subscribers to celebrate the election victory of the Yogi government.
"To celebrate the election victory of Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, all Indian users are being given 3 months recharge for free. If you are Jio, Airtel, or Vi user, you can avail of this offer. Please note: This offer is only valid till 31 MARCH 2022, Hurry up," reads the message.
NewsMeter received the claim on WhatsApp for a fact check.
NewsMeter searched the web with relevant keywords but did not find any such news on any media portal.
However, we found news published on 22nd April 2021 on `jagran com'. Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) dismissed the message as fake.
The COAI advised users to be aware of such fraudulent messages. It said the message has neither been issued by the government nor telecom operators.
Moreover, PIB fact Check debunked the claim. It read that the viral message is false and no such announcement has been made by the government.
pic.twitter.com/31wQ96LSxA
