Hyderabad: A poster has been going viral on social media stating that the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has cancelled the class X and XII board exams due to the pandemic.

The poster seems to be a notice from the Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi, and is dated 3 June 2021.

Fact Check

The viral poster is misleading as no such announcement has been made by the JAC.

NewsMeter visited the website of Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi, and found that the website had said that the viral poster on social media claiming that secondary and intermediate exams have been canceled is false.

A report by Careers360, a website that provides educational information, stated the response of the board: "The information related to the cancellation of Secondary and Intermediate Annual Examination 2021 being circulated in the social media is completely misleading. No notification has been published by the Council in this regard."

The Council has not cancelled the Jharkhand class X and XII board exams for 2021. A decision on exams is expected to be taken soon. While postponing the JAC board exam 2021, the council said that a review meeting will be held on 1 June and further decisions will be taken as per situation in the state.

However, there has been no information about the exams notified by the Council on its website. Students are suggested to check the official website jac.jharkhand.gov.in for the latest updates.

An NDTV said JAC has not taken any decision yet on class X and XII board exams which were postponed in April amid a surge in COVID-19 cases. An official from the board told NDTV that reports on board exam cancellation are fake. "Whatever is being spread as cancelled is a rumor...requesting students not to believe them," the official said.

Evidently, the claim that JAC has cancelled class X and XII board exams is misleading. No decision has been take yet.
