Fact Check: No, Michael Jackson did not sing Give Thanks to Allah

Hyderabad: A video of late singer Michael Jackson singing 'Give Thanks to Allah' is widely being shared on social media. It is being claimed that this was his last video.

It was shared with the caption that translates to, "The last song sung by the king of pop Michael Jackson with 99 names of Allah fills up your heart."

Fact Check

The claim is misleading.

NewsMeter noticed that MJ's lips did not sync with the song.

We performed a Google reverse image search which led us to a similar video that was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Jam MJBrazil' on 30 October 2013. It was titled "Michael Jackson – Gone Too Soon – Heal The World [President Clinton Gala -1992]."

In the viral video, we can hear words like 'Allah is Ghefor' and 'Allah is Rahim'. Taking a cue from this, NewsMeter performed a keyword search which led us to a website called Genius. We found that the song is called 'Give Thanks to Allah' by Zain Bhikha.

We searched for the video on YouTube and found one uploaded on 4 February 2012. It was titled "Zain Bhikha Give thanks To Allah Lyrics".

We then searched for the songs sung by Zain Bhikha on Hungama and found the song mentioned in the list.

It is therefore evident that the claim made through the viral post is misleading. The viral video was created by overlaying Jackson's original video over a song sung by Zain Bhikha.
