Hyderabad: A screenshot of the ABP news bulletin about Uttar Pradesh's opinion polls is viral on social media.

In the purported opinion poll, Samajwadi Party (SP) led by Akhilesh Yadav is projected to win over 300 seats in the 403-member Assembly.

Fact check:

The claim is false.

NewsMeter checked for the results of an opinion poll shared by ABP News for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. The team found one from October 8.

As per the results, BJP is projected to win 241-249 seats. SP is projected to win 130-138 seats, 15-19 seats may go to BSP, and 3-7 seats to Congress.

Next, the fact-checker noticed the old logo of the channel in the screenshot, 'ABP News' changed its logo in December 2020 for all its channels.

We performed a reverse image search, using relevant keywords.

The team found a video report published by 'ABP News' on their YouTube channel discussing the results of an opinion poll for the 2017 UP Elections. The video which was uploaded on 16 March 2016 was titled, "ABP News-Nielsen poll: Mayawati emerges as most liked CM candidate".

Before disclosing the results of an opinion poll, the anchor is seen to discuss last year's Assembly elections conducted in 2012, wherein SP had got the highest votes followed by BSP and BJP.


Hence, the claim is false.
