Hyderabad: A video of a massive rally is widely being shared on social media. Users claim that it is a protest rally against violence in Tripura.

"Muslims of Kerala have proved that they are a vibrant community. They have sympathy towards their brothers and sisters. They have opened a front against BJP, RSS, and other saffron organizations. They took out such a big rally against them (sic)," reads the caption of the viral post.

Fact Check

The claim made through the viral post is False.

NewsMeter firstly performed a Keyword search which directed us to a video uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Hadhi Media' on January 18, 2020. The description of the video read, "Anti-citizenship rally attended by lakhs of people". The team found similar visuals in the viral video.


The team found a similar video uploaded by an Instagram user on January 03, 2020, with a caption, "Not alone, but together" with hashtags #rejectnrc #rejectcaa #Mannarkkad

The Fact check team lastly compared a screengrab with the video on YouTube and Instagram.


It is therefore evident that the claim is False. Video of the 2020 anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest at Mannarkkad has been passed off as a rally against Tripura violence.
