Hyderabad: An image of cricket fans is widely being shared on social media. Users claim that this picture was taken during the recent India-Pakistan match in Dubai.

Netizens are connecting it with 'love jihad'.







Fact Check

The claim made through the viral post is False.

NewsMeter performed a Google Reverse Image Search which led the team to a website of 'Geo TV'. It shared a series of pictures that included the viral image. The pictures were captioned: "Not all is about rivalry though; Pakistani and Indian supporters pose together ahead of Pakistan vs India World Cup match at Adelaide Oval, February 15, 2015."

The team then found a similar image on the website of Getty Images stating: "Pakistan and India supporters pose with their flags outside of the ground during the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval on February 15, 2015, in Adelaide, Australia."

The team lastly found the viral image on the website of 'Rediff' on February 18, 2015.

It is therefore evident that the viral claim is False. It is nowhere related to the recent India-Pakistan cricket match. The image also has no relation with 'love jihad'.
