Hyderabad: A picture of a woman covered in blood is going viral on social media. Users claim that the woman was thrashed by a Samajwadi Party leader in Mainpuri in 2016. It was also claimed that to date no arrests have been made.
"This was the goonda raj of the Samajwadi Party in UP. This incident of 2016 is from Mainpuri district. The crime of the woman was that she had taken the nomination form for the block chief election. A smalltime Samajwadi Party leader thrashed the girl in full public view and the police acted as mute spectators. Due to political pressure, this goon was not arrested. How will Samajwadi Party talk about democracy today (sic)," reads the Facebook post.

The Independent- a British online newspaper- published a report on 23 December 2006. It reported some miscreants thrashed a woman openly for protesting against molestation in Mainpuri. The woman was accompanied by her husband and her daughter. An arrest was also made in this case. The full news can be read by clicking here.
Similarly, according to Jansatta.com: "The Husband was asking for the address of a shop in the market with his wife in Mainpuri, when a man, made obscene acts with his wife. On protesting, the man along with one of his companions attacked both of them." Read full news here.
