Fact Check: Old UP rape and murder incident shared with misleading claim

Hyderabad: Two screenshots of the `India News' bulletin are widely being shared on social media.
"Girl molested inside a police station in Chitrakoot", reads the text of the first screenshot. "Incident in Bargarh police station," reads another.
Netizens are trying to drive the point home that there is a law and order breakdown in Uttar Pradesh.
Fact Check
The claim is misleading.
Since the screenshot has a logo of 'India News', NewsMeter searched if there were any such news reports published by the channel. The team found a video uploaded on the YouTube channel 'inKhabar' on December 4, 2019.
According to the description of the video, a woman was molested inside a police station in Chitrakoot, UP. She was later murdered. The incident took place in Bargarh police station.
The visuals similar to the first screengrab can be seen in the video at 0:10 seconds. The visuals similar to the second screengrab can be seen at 0:24 seconds.
The team then found a news report published by `Live Hindustan' on December 03, 2019.
"SO Bargarh Chitrasen Singh found the body of a 22-year-old unidentified girl lying in a pool of blood inside the police service center. The girl was wearing black clothes and red sandals. Police believe that she was married as she was wearing a net on her toes. Two bullet marks were also found on her forehead. It is believed that two bullets were fired from a close range. It is suspected that the girl was murdered after being raped," reads the report of Live Hindustan.
The team lastly found a report by Jagran on December 09, 2019. "Married woman shot dead after rape; body thrown in police service center," reads the headline.
"After rape in the Bargarh police station area, the married woman was shot dead. The sensation spread after his body was found lying at Police Service Center on the highway. Her face was badly mutilated. Police launched the investigation. A crowd of people gathered after seeing the body of a 21-year-old married woman. ASP Balwant Chaudhary, SO Bargarh Chitrasen Singh reached the spot. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. Gunshot wounds were found on her forehead and jaw," reads the report.
It is therefore evident that the claim is misleading. The incident took place in Bargarh police station in Chitrakoot district, Uttar Pradesh in 2019.
