NewsMeter performed an InVid search and found that many media outlets had carried the same video in 2019. NDTV and TV9 had reported that a policeman was heckled by four men on a road at night in Chennai after he tried to stop them from allegedly drinking in public. The video that was shot by an eyewitness shows the policeman surrounded by four men who try to push him to the ground and attack him.
According to a report by The News Minute, the incident took place in June 2019 on the Kodambakkam high road in Chennai. The police constable was on duty when he noticed the four drunk men allegedly trying to heckle some people on the roadside. (Watch the video here.)
