HYDERABAD: A video of a crowded railway station is viral on social media. Users claim that it shows the situation of the Mumbai local on February 1 after train services were resumed.
NewsMeter found that the claim of the video being recent is false.
We checked the comments section of the viral tweets and found a reply by the official Twitter account of Divisional Railway Manager- Mumbai Division of Western Railway that reads,
"The video is old. Requesting not to share such misguiding videos".
The Western Railway Mumbai Central Division also replied to a few tweets and stated: "No such instance of crowd congregation has been reported from across suburban section,"
The video seems to be a fake one, as local trains resumed for general public only on yesterday after almost 10 months. Sufficient uniformed staff are deployed at stations to regulate the crowd. No such instance of crowd congregation has been reported from across suburban section.
We also performed a reverse image search and found the same video, uploaded on YouTube on 21 March 2016.
Evidently, it is clear that the claim is false. The same video has been available on the internet since 2016. Official sources have debunked the viral claims.
