Hyderabad: A video of a man doing awful activities at Gurudwara Sahib is widely being shared on social media.

Users claim that this video was shot in Dittupur Jattan village and it is recent.

Fact Check

The claim is False.

NewsMeter began its investigation by performing a keyword search which led us to the Facebook page 'All Yanki'. The page had posted a video with similar visuals on October 2, 2021.

According to the description of the video, at around 5 am in the morning, this man had entered the Gurudwara Sahib with his footwear on and without covering his head. This was the second time that this man had done such an act. When he committed sacrilege for the first time, the villagers pardoned him and he was saved.

The team then found a video news report aired on the YouTube channel 'Dainik Savera' on October 05, 2021. According to the report, the man seen in the video was arrested and produced before the court.

On further investigation, the team found a report published by 'Punjabi Jagran' on October 03, 2021. The report had a screengrab that had similar visuals as that of the ones seen in the viral video.

"At village Dittupur Jattan of Bhadson police station, at around 5.30 am, an attempt was made by a person from the village to desecrate Guru Granth Sahib. According to villagers, Jagdeep Singh, son of Gajjan Singh, a native of the village, climbed on the platform of Palki Sahib after 5:00 am with his shoes on and without covering his head. Bhadson police station chief Sukhdev Singh said that a case has been registered against the accused under section 295A, and 380 of IPC on the complaint of Gurdwara Committee and he has been arrested. According to information received from the village, Jagdeep Singh is a person with a mental illness and has had one of his arms amputated due to cancer in the past. This incident of indecency is causing a great deal of controversy in the community," the report said.

It is therefore evident that the claim made is False. This video is of an incident that took place in October.
