Hyderabad: A video of Mulayam Singh Yadav is widely being shared on social media. Yadav is heard saying that he made his son Chief Minister, but he threw his own uncle out.

Users are claiming that this video is recent and Mulayam Singh Yadav is appealing not to vote for the Samajwadi Party.

The claim is False.

NewsMeter began its investigation by performing a keyword search which led us to a report published by Jagran on April 02, 2017. The report was titled 'Mulayam attacks Akhilesh'.

According to the report, "Mulayam Singh along with Totaram Yadav arrived at the inauguration of a hotel in Mainpuri. There was a split in the party before the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh Yadav made a big statement about Akhilesh Yadav. Mulayam Singh, who was the Samajwadi Party president, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement in Kannauj impacted the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Modi had said that the son who cannot be faithful to his father, how can he be trusted. Mulayam Singh Yadav said that this is true and we lost the election."

This news was published by many other mainstream media organizations including Zee News, Amar Ujala, and Patrika.

The team found that the logo of Dainik Bhaskar was different from the original videos.


It is therefore evident that the claim is false as the viral video is of 2017. The logo of Dainik Bhaskar has been edited in the viral video.
