Hyderabad: A video of some people showing black flags to Yogi Adityanath's convoy is viral on social media. Users are claiming that it is a recent video and no media has covered the event.

The claim is False.

NewsMeter began its investigation by performing a keyword search which led us to the NDTV report on June 10, 2017. Visuals similar to that of the viral video can be seen from 0:58 seconds.

According to the description of the video, "Bail was denied to UP students who showed black flags to Yogi Adityanath."


The news about the incident was also uploaded on the website of NDTV, Bhaskar, and Jansatta.

"Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sunil Kumar has rejected the bail plea of 11 students in connection with the waving of black flags in front of the convoy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On Friday (June 9) the magistrate rejected the bail plea after the Hasanganj police presented the case diary in the court. The court held that the offense of the students was serious in nature and hence bail could not be granted. On the evening of June 7, the Chief Minister, who was going to attend a program on Chhatrapati Shivaji at Lucknow University, was shown black flags by the students and created a ruckus in front of his convoy. On June 8, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sandhya Srivastava sent 11 students to 14-day judicial custody. The court had summoned the case diary on Friday to hear the students' bail," read the report by Jansatta on June 10, 2017.

It is therefore evident that the viral claim is False. The viral video clip of 2017 is shared as recent. Many mainstream news organizations had reported about the incident.
