Hyderabad: A video of a woman claiming that she wasn't paid Rs. 400 by BJP workers who had brought her to shout slogans at a BJP rally is going viral on social media.

The crying woman says she was promised Rs. 400 and a dhoti. When asked which party's rally she attended, she says "Modi ka" (Modi's party). She raised slogans as requested but after the rally, she was paid only Rs. 150, she says.


Srinivas B.V, the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, and the official Twitter account of Uttar Pradesh Congress had shared the video.



Fact Check:

The claim is false.

With the help of InVid's keyframe analysis tool and a reverse image search, we found that the video was not from a recent BJP rally. We found tweets from 2017 that talked about the video. This proves that it is not recent.


Next, we conducted a keyword search on Twitter and found a tweet along with a screenshot of the video. The logo of 'Janta ka Reporter' was visible on the screenshot. Taking a cue from this we looked for the original report and found it on the Janta ka Reporter website. It was dated 9 March 2017. They had also posted the video on Facebook.

AltNews had also reported the incident on 10 March 2017.

All reports and tweets prove that the video dates back to 2017 and is not linked to a recent BJP rally. Hence, the claim is false.
